About Kathryn

Kathryn Jones, MA, MSW, RSW

Kathryn believes that everyone deserves to experience the support, validation, connection and peace of mind that counselling can provide. While she has expertise in providing structured, goal-focused counselling, she also holds non-judgemental, inqusitive, empathetic space for clients seeking open self-exploration.

Kathryn has been described as having a warm, outgoing, down-to-earth personality. In addition to extensive education and training, Kathryn’s practice is deeply enriched by personal life experiences. She combines evidence based techniques with humor to create a “No BS” approach that her clients appreciate. Kathryn’s fierce compassion for others is accented with directness. In sessions, people can expect empathy, authenticity, honesty, and unconditional positive regard.

In 2007 Kathryn moved to Waterloo to complete a Master of Art, Religion and Culture degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. In 2016 she decided to take her love of helping individuals to a new professional level by completing a Master of Social Work degree (MSW) degree at Laurier. After graduating, Kathryn began her career at a respected non-profit counselling agency where she supported people of marginalized populations; children and youth; couples; survivors of intimate-partner violence and sexual assaut; and individuals with severe mental health concerns. In 2018 she began her private practice where she has further developed expertise in treating a variety of mental health concerns, especially complex anxiety disorders. She has professionally collaborated with doctors, psychiatrists, local crisis services, and a variety of wellness practitioners over the course of her career. She has a rich love of learning and is always seeking new opportunities for professional development. Kathryn has completed various professional training courses and workshops to improve her practice and remain up-to-date with research on mental health conditions, psychotherapy, and social issues that impact clients.
